Problems
with Cheese
By: Sarah
Once upon a time, a mouse named Steve was getting a greats night sleep. He was having a nice dream and he wasn’t tossing and turning in his bed of cheese. Now, Steve is a gray mouse and only about seven months old. Seeing how Steve is a mouse he obviously loves cheese. Actually, cheese is the exact reason that Steve is having such a nice night. You see, yesterday after noon Steve went to the market look for some jelly, but instead he saw the biggest cheese wheel he had ever seen. Steve just looked at it with his eyes wide open, and his tongue hanging out of his mouth. His only thoughts were, buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it. So he did. He brought it home and put it in the refrigerator. So that’s why Steve is having such a good night.
Suddenly, Steve felt funny. His happy dream faded away. Then a bad dream filled its place. All Steve saw in his dream was a rat sneaking into his hut and going into his refrigerator. The rat took the cheese and ran off. Steve started tossing and turning. Everything flew off his bed including a couple of cheese shavings. Then Steve woke up. He was screaming and was out of breath. As soon as Steve stopped screaming the first ting he did was jump out of bed and run over to his refrigerator. He opened it up and…”Ahhhhhhhh.”Said Steve in relief. The cheese was still were he left it. Safe in the refrigerator. Steve was relieved. “ It was only a dream.” He said, and went back to sleep.
In the morning, Steve was a little nervous about leaving his cheese at home when he went to market, but he didn’t have a choice. So, Steve went to the market, but he was shaking so badly that his cart was making so much noise that everyone was complaining. As he left he could hearing everyone in the store cheering because it was now quiet again.
Steve drove home in panic. He nearly ran in to a tree when he was parking his car out side his house. When Steve went inside he check on his cheese and yet a gain everything was perfectly normal. “I need to chill.” Said Steve. “ I mean, no one has broken into my house before so why would it happen now. Steve was relaxed, but not for long. He heard a knock on the door. Everything was quiet. Then Steve heard “ delivery.” It was only the mailman. Even after hearing that Steve took the cheese and set it in his room. He went back t the door and opened it. “Hello.” Said the mailman. “How are you today.”
“G-g-good.”
“Great there’s your package” Then the mailman walked off.
Steve shut the door then locked it. Steve looked at the package the ripped it open. It was a lock. A special lock for refrigerators. Steve looked in the box there was a note on the bottom. The note read…
Dear Steve,
Hi it’s Mom. I could tell that you were panicking because yesterday was Sunday. Remember you are supposed to call every Sunday. Anyways, I’m guessing that you are panicking about cheese in your refrigerator again. Hope this helps.
-Mom
Steve opened the box that the lock was in and put the cheese back in the refrigerator and put the lock on right away. Once again Steve was relaxed, and he stayed relaxed. Steve picked up the phone and called his Mom.
“Hi, Mommy Mouse. Thanks for the lock. It really helped. I wish you had answered the phone so I didn’t have to leave a message. Thanks again.”
Steve hung up the phone. “She always knows what to do,” He said. So now, relaxed Steve walked off to bed.
That night Steve didn’t toss and turn and he resumed the great dream that was interrupted by the bad one.
Steve was relieved that he had that lock. Now with the lock, Steve never had a problem with cheese again.
The End
